New Track: Daily Bread – “Night Time” + MP3

    September 22nd, 2011

You already know we love Daily Bread. Comprised of Apollo Brown and Hassaan Mackey, the duo released their self titled debut back in late July and its still in rotation.

Today, grab a bonus track called “Night Time,” which they came together for before Brown hits the road. Characteristically soulful with just that necessary knock, it’s another instant gem. Hassan’s flow and Apollo’s beats are pure poetry.

    New Track: Kissey – “Cry” + MP3

    September 22nd, 2011

Oh how we love Kissey (formerly Kissey Asplund). She recently dropped an electro-soul track with her special space-fairy dust. Parts remind us of Sonnymoon and Quadron as she crescendos into a chill evoking echo reminiscent of Radiohead. Still all Kissey, though. We are so excited for more! More, please, more!

Rare 1993 Live Recording of Groove Collective @ Sybarite

    September 20th, 2011

Courtesy of Nappy G, we have a very rare 1993 live recording of Groove Collective at their Friday residency at the legendary club Sybarite in Soho, which we started to give the group a platform to play as a band. In fact, Groove Collective were born out of Giant Step’s weekly Thursday party in the early 1990’s where they would jam with DJs Smash and Jazzy Nice.

Above, also find a bonus tune by Groove Collective, 1994’s “Whatchugot.”

After the jump, find Nappy G’s comments about the recording as well as the full list of band members!
