New Release: JMSN releases Video + MP3 for “Alone”

JMSN released his latest single “Alone” and its accompanying video today from his forthcoming album †Priscilla†, which will be dropping January 11th, 2012. The versatile JMSN directed, edited and starred in this eerie video, which was filmed by cinematographer Luis Panch Perez, who has had his fair share of graphic imagery. Perez shot the VMA nominated video for “Yonkers” by Tyler The Creator, which has a similar, unsettling outcome.

New Track: Onra – “A New Dynasty”

Onra has leaked the first single for his upcoming Chinoiseries Pt. 2. The track is an upbeat mash of sounds that are specifically and only Onra.

Sidenote. Imagine if Gold Panda and Onra got together, though – there would be problems. Great problems.

New Track: Brandee Younger – “So Alive” ft. Niia (Tensei Remix) + MP3

We first caught New York based jazz harpist Brandee Younger during her performance as part of this year’s epic Harlem Stage with Miguel Atwood Ferguson. Today, we have a downtempo Tensei remix of her “So Alive” track with vocalist Niia. Absolutely gorgeous – kind of reminds us of the downtempo soul of the late 90′s and early 2000′s. Think a little Esthero, some Ming Xia of The Spooks. Good good ish.

New Release: Khari Mateen – ‘Khari’ EP

Chances are you don’t know who Khari Mateen is, but we’ve known this cat since he was a newbie to The Roots crew family at just 18 years old. Some may recognize Khari as the bassist from his current band, Elevator Fight with the illustrious Zoe Kravitz. Others may have heard his production work on The Roots’ “Game Theory,” “Clock With No Hands,” nearly half of How I Got Over, and finally, on the most recent leak with The Roots and Big K.R.I.T., “Make My.”

So, really – you already know Khari’s music. Late last month, Khari gave the world an introduction to his work as a solo artist on his Khari EP. The project features Khari’s production and also puts his vocal talents on front and center. The music is impressively (but not surprisingly) diverse with R&B, funk, rock, jazz, downtempo, classical, electronic, and hip hop influences. Do yourself a favor a get put on – ASAP. And heads up that half of the EP tracks are actually free downloads, including one of our favorite tracks, “Mother.”
