New Release: Blu & Exile – ‘Give Me My Flowers While I Can Smell Them’

Uh, what? It was only a month or two we were talking to some pals who were saying we were tough out of luck if we were to expect this duo to ever release a project together again. Not to take all the credit or whatever, but we think we had something to do with this.

Los Angeles contingent Blu & Exile are back, y’all. Curse word. Exile continues to habitually pour out his dreamy chopped beats while Blu makes his easy buttery rhymes wrap around you like a cinnamon roll. What?

Give Me My Flowers While I Can Smell Them. Just listen and get this ish now, please.

Giant Step Vault: Nuyorican Soul EPK – Giant Step Records 1997

We dug deep into the Giant Step vault to find some gems from the past. Here is the first of the bunch, an EPK for the release of Nuyorican Soul on Giant Step Records. Back then it was common to compile an electronic press kit (EPK) to send out a pre-release – this would help with journalists, retail and radio. Although it was more of an industry tool, we thought you might enjoy seeing it. A lot of the footage and interviews are from the actual photo shoot for the album artwork. The video features interviews with Kenny Dope and Little Louie Vega, Roy Ayers, George Benson, La India, Jocelyn Brown and Tito Puente to name a few.

Keep an eye on this site over the holiday break for more videos from the Giant Step vault.
