Gregory Porter to Release ‘Be Good’

The now Grammy nominated Gregory Porter is becoming quite the force to be reckoned with. Undoubtedly talented and deserving of all the high praises sung of him, Porter is striking while the iron is hot and releasing a sophomore album claimed to outshine his Grammy nominated Water debut.

Be Good, set to release on February 14th, 2012, promises to display a range of moods and stories in Porter’s charming, almost conversational songwriting style. Firstly, folks can look forward to the title track, “Be Good (Lion’s Song),” which has actually been lauded as a crowd favorite during live shows for some time now.

With veteran producer and Be Good collaborator Brian Bacchus comparing the singer to Bill Withers, Curtis Mayfield, and Donny Hathaway, we are beside ourselves anticipating what’s next. Be certain that we’ll be sharing what comes our way!

So, yeah. All kinds of up close NSFW-ness up in here. Not necessarily our typical fare but we couldn’t help it, we’re moved – the energy here is just bad ass. Hanni El Khatib, Los Angeles based thrasher and vocalist brings us some footage from his recent tour in Paris on this one.

Apparently Hanni is inspired by knife fights, and now we’re kind of wondering if we can join his fight club or something – please, maybe?

Video: Creep – “Animals” ft. Holly Miranda

The Brooklyn femme producer duo Creep are totes spooky on “Animals.” The beat sounds like an unearthly soundtrack to some paranormal mutant movie. But fear not, Holly Miranda’s echoey vocals provide an eerie solace that we are completely alright with. Check the sci-fi video and join the trance.

Video: Lana Del Rey – “Born To Die”

Fever-inducing Lana Del Rey doesn’t need to do much to get one hot and bothered as evidenced by her “Born To Die” non-video that dropped last week. What could possibly be better than the non-video, though?! Duh – the video video.

There is certainly no skimping on the grandeur with the main opening setting in a magnificent church. A poised Lana sits on her “throne” in-betwixt two tiger homies in a scene that is quickly cut by a cut-off shorts and tennis shoe wearing Lana in the middle of nowhere with her man. And as the bleary love story unfolds, we find ourselves more and more emo. Damn, boo.

Very well done.

Born To Die drops January 30th.
