Video: Funkommunity – “Pass It On”

[kml_flashembed movie="" width="550" height="445" allowfullscreen="true" fvars="fs=1" /]

Fonk all day. This track is upbeat in just the right way and we love it. New Zealand seems to be bringing it recently. The newest exports on our radar are soultastic duo Funkommunity with their bop worthy brand of jazz, soul, and funk.

Vocalist Rachel Fraser starts off “Pass It On” sounding charmingly reminiscent of Amy Winehouse and as she continues, displays her own highly contagious vocal stylings.

Both handclap and boogie worthy, “Pass It On” is also complimented by this kick but vintage styled video – all the way from the edit to the styling, they are killing it on this one. Eagerly awaiting more from these guys!

Video: Zakee – “Snakes”

Back in December, we introduced you to progressive afrobeat artist Zakee via his “Push The Power” video, which we still can’t stop bobbing around to.

This gorgeous new video for “Snakes” makes a great substitute for your media player’s “visualizations” function with it’s kaleidoscope overlays that are more than just a little entrancing. This stuff is like a techno tribal drum party on an echoey mountaintop. Brilliant.

New Track: Haroula Rose – “Close My Eyes To See” (Luke Top Remix)

A Fullbright scholar, violin player since age eight, and seasoned commercial jingle singer, Haroula Rose has quite a rich history leading up to her debut album. These Open Roads is the singer-songwriter’s first work and beautifully showcases Haroula’s refreshingly down to earth sound and calming voice.

Below, take a listen to the Luke Top remix for “Close My Eyes To See” – takes us back to some of our favorite starry-eyed downtempo tunes with a folky and somewhat cinematic twist.

New Track: Alice Russell & Quantic – “Look Around The Corner”

Alice Russell and Quantic have dropped the title track from their upcoming project, Look Around The Corner!

The track holds a soothing yet uplifting vibe with a Latin-tinged tropical undertone. The bluesy soul tune is set off by Alice’s gospel inspired vocals, which breath her incomparable signature energy into the whole. Feels like spring is already here.
