Talented musician and bass player Khari Cabral today released his beautifully tuneful new album Clementine Sun. Some may recall Cabral as the leader of Jiva (who were signed to Giant Step Records) and member of India Arie’s band. Fun fact: Khari was actually the one that initially linked us up with India and Donnie back in 1997!

Preview “Never In Your Sun” featuring Indie Arie above and soak in happy thoughts of the weekend ahead.

After the jump, you can also find the Tauriva remix of a classic throwback track from Jiva called “Stars.”

Video: Ali Shaheed Muhammad & Maseo Speak In Celebration of J Dilla

Earlier this month, Red Bull Music Academy and Boombox in LA collaborated to put together a party and a sit down lecture featuring Ali Shaheed Muhammad (A Tribe Called Quest) and Maseo (De La Soul). The celebratory focus was the life and music of the late great J Dilla. The talk was hosted by our pal Cognito of Frolab.

[kml_flashembed movie="http://www.youtube.com/v/pumWJ4N7rNc" width="550" height="445" allowfullscreen="true" fvars="fs=1" /]

If you’ve been anywhere on the internet today, you’d should have easily seen about eleventy-billion posts about our man Robert Glasper and his oh so fancy Experiment’s release of Black Radio. We’re still blinking after seeing the iTunes price of $6.99 – that’s like, basically free.

Yes, the album actually features Erykah Badu, Lupe Fiasco, Lalah Hathaway, Shafiq Husayn, Ledisi, and Meshell Ndegeocello, amongst others. No, we’re not kidding when we say the that Black Radio is top to bottom worthy of a sublime stupor.

After dizzying ourselves from running around in circles of excitement all morning, we have now transitioned to the running man in anticipation of the release show at the Highline Ballroom in NYC tonight. And while you’re hating us in our unabashed show-off, do know that you can also gloat by grabbing tickets to tomorrow’s newly added second release show on Wednesday, February 29th.

Also, hats off to Okayplayer for premiering the video for the title track featuring Yasiin Bey! Check it out above.
