New Release: The Touré-Raichel Collective – ‘The Tel Aviv Session’ + Tour Dates

    April 2nd, 2012

Simply divine. The Touré-Raichel Collective is composed of the highly lauded Vieux Farka Touré (Mali) and Idan Raichel (Israel), who were brought together during a serendipitous encounter at a German airport.

The Tel Aviv Session is the product of an impromptu afternoon jam session that took place after the duo's performance at the Tel Aviv Opera House in November 2010. The entirely improvised acoustic recoding features Vieux and Idan, as well as Israeli bassist Yossi Fine and Malian calabash player Souleymane Kane. A little mind blowing to think that this was all off the cuff - insane talent.

The entire album is streamable below, and we are pretty much beside ourselves here. A must listen. Be sure to catch these gentlemen on their North American tour as well - tour dates after the jump.
