Cut Chemist – “Outro (Revisited)” ft. Blackbird

Love us some Cut Chemist. “Outro (Revisited)” comes after the chemist was released from jail and reflected on his “strong urge to run.” The adrenaline pumping track instantly grabs you with an addictive guitar riff and an exceptional vocal delivery from LA based rapper (and our pal) Blackbird. Basically, this song rules life.

Our plan? Playing it over and over and waving our hair around in a fury like we’re in the baddest rock band of all time. You can join us by streaming the track on RollingStone.com.

The track is the first single from Die Cut (A Stable Sound).

New Release: Hawthorne Headhunters – ‘Myriad of Now’

A couple of our favorite dudes, Coultrain and Blackspade, have voltroned to create Hawthorne Headhunters. Yesterday the pair released their debut album, Myriad of Now, which boasts a tickling melange of quirky electro with Coultrain’s unmatched soul vocals. Blackspade also makes a few vocal appearances with his stirring flow.

Stream the album in full on AOL and below listen to “Yellow Cougar,” a sweet swingy duet available as a free download.

New Release: Hiatus Kaiyote – ‘Tawk Tomahawk’

Wow. Hiatus Kaiyote is that ish. Their debut release Tawk Tomahawk dropped just over a week ago and it is mind bendingly good.

Claiming the vast umbrella of “future soul,” the group does not get comfortable with any one familiar style – with soul and some serious attitude as their cornerstone, the sound ranges from dirty glitch to cinematic parlour jazz to folk to rock to electronic and on. The vocalist sounds sort of like Corrine Bailey Rae on acid a la an essence of Karma Stewart – in the best possible way.

Listen to this now and make your day that more amazing. Holler at Melbourne, y’all.

Video: Allen Stone – “Satisfaction” (Live)

Ask about Washington state singer Allen Stone – or let us tell you. Dude is gaining some serious attention after having self released two albums between 2009 and 2011. Above, watch homeboy pour some syrupy soul on Jimmy Kimmel while he performs his ever funky jam “Satisfaction.” Below, hear him get his sexytime falsetto soul in the vein of Maxwell during his performance on Conan O’Brien.

Whew! Much respect to the indie artists holding it down for themselves.

Video: Kimbra – “Settle Down” (Live)

What a special treat this lady is. New Zealand born and Melbourne based vocalist Kimbra is more than just a singer, boasting vocal acrobatics against a jazzy, soulful electro-pop backdrop. Just take a little eensie weensie peek at her singlehandedly murdering it at the Spotify Sessions during this year’s SXSW Festival and be rendered speechless – a one woman maestro. And could she be any more adorable? Do they make pocket size versions of her? Please?

Wonderfully shot video, too – really great capture of the mood at the awesome Spotify House (which we had the pleasure of visiting)!

Citing Nina Simone, Prince, and Bjork as influences, can we be any more excited to take a peek at Kimbra’s debut album, Vows that dropped last August? Probably not.
