Video: Exitmusic – “Passage”

Also known as one of our SXSW Artist Spotlights, the cinematic band Exitmusic recently released their video for “Passage.” These guys refuse to make music videos anything less than intensely rousing short films (also see their video for “The Sea”). Why not, though? Especially when your lead singer (Aleksa Palladino) was once cast in a Martin Scorcese series.

Look for their debut album, Passage, to drop May 22.

Back in February we shared with you a video for the “Snowyman” remix for Syrian singer-producer Saadi. Today, we have the official video for the original track and we are pretty frickin stoked. The video is incredible with funky stick figure puppet animations against atextured quilt-like backdrop. Don’t be mad, but we’re pretty sure these stick figures probably dance better than you.

Video: Esperanza Spalding – “Black Gold” (Live)

This song makes us smile inside. First time you probably heard it was when we posted the video to the original with Algebra Blessett. Yesterday, Esperanza Spalding took to the Daily Show with Jon Stewart to perform “Black Gold” live with our homie Chris Turner for a shiver inducing duet.

Video: Feist – “Bittersweet Melodies”

Just on the cusp on her US tour, Feist releases a new video for “Bittersweet Melodies.” The video is a super entertaining photo montage of child photos juxtaposed against the grown up versions of the exact same photos – cute and hilarious and ridiculously engaging. They really did a superb job at replicating the scenes.

Below, you can also watch her epic live performance of “Bad In Each Other” at the 2012 Juno Awards. Her voice just isn’t fair.

New Release: Ane Brun – ‘Do You Remember’ EP

Swedish folk singer Ane Brun released her Do You Remember EP this week and it’s promising to be lovely treat. Watch the video of Ane performing the title track above and get whisked into a land welcomingly reminiscent of Feist peppered with tribal sounding drums and a bouncy chant compliments of her totally adorable background singers. The performance looks something like a smoky secret society gathering in the woods – except on a stage, not in the woods.
