New Release: The Spring Standards – ‘yellow//gold’ + Video

[kml_flashembed movie="" width="550" height="445" allowfullscreen="true" fvars="fs=1" /]

When we first posted the absolutely adorable “Queen Of The Lot” video by The Spring Standards in February, we were completely smitten. Since then, the east coast trio have released a double-disc record, yellow//gold.

Yellow pays homage to the trio’s shared childhood back when they started playing folk music together as teenagers, while Gold “is is a declaration of young life in a big city, bursting with energy.”

Above, enjoy the video for the mellow “Only Skin,” a song that tells the story of the sadness that comes with “change and greatening distance.”

Stream the entire album on AOL.

Video: The Bombay Royale – “You Me Bullets Love”

[kml_flashembed movie="" width="550" height="445" allowfullscreen="true" fvars="fs=1" /]

Here’s something novel. A retro Bollywood group that combines deep funk and disco with classically alluring Hindi and Bengali vocals. The Bombay Royale will present their debut album, You Me Bullets Love, on May 15. In the meantime, we have their quirky and entertaining video for the title track. The bustling melange of sounds might leave you slightly paralyzed, but it’s alright – we promise you’ll be okay – eventually.

Video: Nick Waterhouse – “Some Place”

Throwback soul singer and musician Nick Waterhouse has just released his debut album, Time’s All Gone. Along with it is a snazzy little video for “Some Place” where whiskey and Japanese business make take on the town in LA. Loving the raspy rock vibe to this song, too (think The Black Keys).
