Video: The Spy From Cairo – “Alladin Dub”

[kml_flashembed movie="" width="550" height="445" allowfullscreen="true" fvars="fs=1" /]

The Spy From Cairo pays tribute to the adventures of Prince Achmed in the above video for “Alladin Dub.” Loving the flip of Middle Eastern sounds on this tune – kind of reminds us of the kind of stuff our dude Debruit does. Basically, hella gangster.

You’ll be happy to know (as we surely are) that the song is just one of many from The Spy’s upcoming album, Arabadub, out on May 29.

Be sure to catch The Spy From Cairo performing at Nublu in NYC on June 7!

New Track: Manuvers & Yarlen – “Midnight Creep”

Manuvers & Yarlen, two producers from Miami have banded together to create a EP, from which we got a snazzy new track! While details on the EP are still forthcoming, we can tell you that “Midnight Creep” is just the low-key dance groove you need to kick off your Friday evening. Listen below!

Citing influences that range from Busta Rhymes to Portishead to Flying Lotus, self taught producer Yarlen Ferreira has been creating tunes for ten years. Her partner, Manuvers (Francisco “Pancho” de Pablo) began DJing at just 13 years old. Sounds like these guys have cooked up an interesting project – looking forward to it!

Video: Tall Black Guy ‘Tempo Dreams Vol. 1′ Trailer

One of our favorite fellas, Tall Black Guy, has put together a pretty incredible compilation featuring eleven other emerging producers. Called Tempo Dreams Vol. 1, the project will include Tensei, MonkeyRobot, Ta-Ku, Evil Needle, Teru, Chief, Jeriko Jackson, Buscrates, Floydcheung, Doc Illingsworth, Schecky’s Jazzy Tofu, and of course, Tall Black Guy.

Taking inspiration from 90s downtempo, the result is some sexy, jazzy, melodic hip-hop wonderfulness – listen for yourself in the trailer video above. Look out for Tempo Dreams Vol. 1 to drop on June 19.

Video: I Love Vinyl + 3rd Anniversary Party @ LPR – May 26

These kids are serious about their vinyl and this video counts all the hilarious, laborious ways. And it just makes the I Love Vinyl crew all that much adorabler – yes, we said adorabler. They better all be prepared for awkwardly long individual squeezes from us next time we cross paths. And we’re going to go ahead and guess that said path crossing is not too far away – watch yo’ back, pals! Or front? Side?

The highly praised and award-winning party is celebrating three years this Saturday at Le Poisson Rouge. And indeed, as always, this is a laptop free situation – it’s gonna be all vinyl, all night compliments of some of NYC’s finest DJs. The residents: Amir, Ge-Ology, The Twilite Tone, OP!, Scribe, and Jon Oliver. *Wipes up drool*

And for those that somehow haven’t yet been, this isn’t some post up against the wall joint – get ready to move something. Come with open ears and arms for “some soul, disco, dilla, boogie, hustle, hip-hop, old-school house, no wave, new jack swing, dancefloor jazz, bossa nova, salsa, funk, electro, and afrobeat.” We think they might be showing off a little.
