Next Step May Winner: Jaidene Veda

Finally! Proud to announce our May Next Step winner to be the charming miss Jaidene Veda!

After co-writing and self-produceding three independent albums and two Billboard club singles, this young Canadian lady has already garnered recognition in the underground house community and the international top 40 club scene. Interestingly, Veda got her start in 2000 as an event producer and party promoter, inevitably helping her develop an audience prior to presenting herself as a singer.

Over the years, she has worked with an impressive who’s who, including Joe Claussell, Josh Milan, Glenn Underground, Jimpster, the Ananda Project, and Reelsoul.

This past fall saw the released of Jaidene’s debut full length album, Pisces Pendulum, which is an enchanting blend of loungy, jazzy, and soulful deep house sounds, and has been lauded by the likes of DJ Spinna, Danny Krivit, and Kenny Dope.

Below, we’ve got a couple treats for you. The first being a brand new release exclusively in honor of Jai’s feature as a Next Step winner – the song is a beautiful downtempo tune called “Colors of Your Love” – reminds us a bit of Aya. And yes, we’ve helped get it to you as a free download – get on that. The next track is a Pete Mo remix of “Healing,” which has a more upbeat house vibe and will have you spinning around in about two seconds flat. Loving it all!

Folks can look forward to even more awesome tunes on Jaidene’s forthcoming studio album this fall. The sounds will be soulful, jazzy, and downtempo, and not quite as house driven as her previous projects. Find a little snippet of the feel in the video above. Also, watch for Jaidene on Ralf Gum’s upcoming album, Never Leaves You, which is due out in September!
