NYC: Doin’ It In The Park Film Screening @ Marcus Garvey Park – Aug 12

Giant Step fam Bobbito Garcia got together with French photographer, filmmaker, and ball player Kevin Couliau to co-direct their first documentary on pick up basketball culture in NYC. Traversing all five boroughs and 180 courts, the duo has done a brilliant job capturing the essence of this community. With New York being the epicenter of pick up basketball, you can be sure that the stories and depth of perspective will be plentiful.

Doin’ It In The Park has been hosting several screenings internationally and this weekend it’ll be back in NYC! Check below for details on the August 12 screening at Marcus Garvey Park. Also, above catch the official trailer for the doc and below get a little behind the scenes action on the creative process behind the project.

Video: K’Naan – “Hurt Me Tomorrow”

K’Naan tells his multicolored crew of lady friends to wait until tomorrow. It’s never really a good time to talk about a break up, is it? And as such, K’Naan dances around in his aloof splendor amidst his colorful women’s color dye laden fits of rage. Whatever works.

New Track: Captain Planet – “Bozako” + MP3

When does Captain Planet disappoint? Oh, wait – that’s right: never. Tropical Ghanaian dancefloor grooves all the way through on this new track called “Bozako.” Those strings! Ahhhhh. Yes and yes.

The track is off his upcoming cassette, Mystery Trip Vol. 1. Yeah, we said cassette.
