Complete with original theme music, Robert Glasper hosts an interview with dreamy singer man Jose James. The charming and lovably goofy musician creates quite the entertaining atmosphere as he speaks with Jose on his Blue Note signing, his upcoming album title (No Beginning, No End), and some views on approaching jazz.
Our boo Erykah Badu is in a new black cowboy flick called They Die By Dawn. The cast is quite drool-worthy, also including Michael K. Williams ("Omar" from The Wire), Rosario Dawson, Giancarlo Esposito, Isaiah Washington (Grey's Anatomy), and Jesse Williams (Grey's Anatomy). Written and directed by none other than Jeymes Samuel, this ought to be a real treat and have a killer soundtrack.
The lady that always gives you a full body experience with her music, Alice Russell, returns to her original label (Tru Thoughts) to release her upcoming fifth album. Working again with the brilliant producer TM Juke, Alice Russell is definitely going to be slangin' some tasty treats. The "Heartbreaker" video above serves as the first of many gems to come.
Alice speaks on the track, "It is a broken hearted love song about the end of a relationship," explains Alice. "it's about that time when you're just emotionally exhausted by it all and you are at the stage where you know you just have to let it go, and you are resigned to it all being over."
Emotion is certainly something Alice's delivery is never short of. Can't wait for her new album in early 2013!
With today's release of L0-F! SIDE B, Jack Davey also releases a psychedelic video for "Like That" complete with ransom-esque magazine cutouts. Foot tapping, head spinning lo-fi rock addiction right here. If you remember the grungy production of SIDE A, you'll appreciate the converse to the story with the "full production & instrumentation" thanks to Joey Strat of The Knux.
