New Track: Theresa Andersson – “Injuns” (Live in Sweden)

New Orleans based singer Theresa Andersson has got a little tribal-esque Feist and Bjork action going on for this live version of “Injuns” and we love it so! What gorgeous whirlwind of sound. The Swedish artist interestingly cites soul and gospel amongst her influences.

Known best for her live shows, she “uses looping pedals to build layers of percussion and stringed instruments” to set the groundwork for her captivating vocals. Kind of reminds us of what Zoe Keating and Kimbra do, which we also love.

Stream and download the track below, thank us later.

Video: Wild Belle – “It’s Too Late” (Live on Conan O’Brien)

We do sure love us some Wild Belle. The retro pop group made its appearance on Conan this week and owned it with their live performance of “It’s Too Late.” With the backing music fairly simple, it’s really something when a vocalist can really carry a performance with a great voice. Love the lead singer Natalie Bergman’s tone and vocal style.

New Release: Jaidene Veda – ‘shadowboxing heroes (mixes and monologues)’

You can take the album teaser off repeat now. Jaidene Veda this week released her new album, shadowboxing heroes (mixes and monologues), and simply just draws out the tease. Whew. We’ve got a few clips from the 23-track album for you to hear below.

Her beginning hums on “Open Love Letter” take us straight to Meshell Ndegeocello nostalgia as she then transitions into straight seductress spoken word, tightening her grip on your poor, poor heart. A soothing Ursula Rucker joins on “When” while Jai tickles us further with her backing vocals on the moving downtempo track.
