New Tracks: Charlie Winston – “Hello Alone” & “Speak To Me”

Gearing up for his upcoming US release of Running Still on January 29, English singer-songwriter Charlie Winston today releases two singles to give you a taste of exactly what all the noise is about across the pond.

The catchy and upbeat “Hello Alone” comes with the quirky and endearing video above, following Charlie along his bizarre escapades around town, including an interlude with some pink lip gloss.

Below, take a listen to “Speak To Me” and get a taste for the variety in the versatile artist’s repertoire. The vocal styling on this grittier, more lo-fi type track reminds us a bit of Fat Freddy’s Drop – a good thing indeed.

The 12-track album is said to boast a “straight-talking lyricism” that does more than make you boogie:

“My sole objective on the album,” Winston explains, “was to be able to engage people’s feet first and slowly rise to the mind,” he says. “So by the time they get absorbed in the lyrics, they’re fully engaged but realize there’s something more going on.”
