About Giant Step

Established in New York in 1990, we started out of a genuine passion for music. Launched as The Groove Academy we promoted shows of our music heroes - artist such as Bootsy Collins, Gil Scott Heron, George Clinton and Maceo Parker – we literally looked up in the phone book. Not long after Giant Step was born as a weekly club that was the breeding ground helping to introduce and break artists such as Jamiroquai, Massive Attack,  Groove Collective, Gangstarr and Digable Planets.

As Giant Step evolved over the years we have continued our commitment to introducing great music through our events, website and social networks.

Today, the Giant Step community is made up of music lovers, artists, tastemakers and DJs that have grown with the company over the last 20 years. It is a diverse global collective of individuals, united by a common belief in and appreciation for music, innovation, originality and creativity.
