Few have been able to make a steady living as a full time international nightclub DJ without a slew of chart topping tracks under their sleeve. A feat Kenny Summit has been able to pull off for nearly two decades. Only in recent years has Kenny made the transition from DJ to Producer, and what better way to make said transition than having three of the world's most respected music producers as your mentors; "Scott Wozniak (Defected Records) has been my biggest teacher. He's the one that really cut my teeth and has given me the most direction. Jay-J Hernandez (Grammy Nominee) has given me a greater understanding of sound and sound design. There really isn't a better engineer in house music than Jay-J, I mean, the guy taught Miguel Migs how to make music, so its an honor to have him as a mentor."
With a number of productions under his belt, and an album on the way, Kenny's signature sounds - funky, filtered, disco influenced tough jacking beats - all have a definite 'soul' element to them.
His up coming album Not Just Talk, is a 10 track testament to all that is house and delves into techno, jackin house, electro-soul and classic house. "Keyed Up", a recent release on Mile End Records, has been receiving support from top DJs globally and is garnishing the recognition of international press.
Kenny Summit recently launched his own label: Good For You Records, which he promises will "bring quality music back to the club world". He recently signed the Sunny Daze Band, an all star cast of 8 seasoned musicians that play a wide range of funk, soul, hiphop and house music.
"What I'm doing with the Sunny Daze Band is bringing together the best musicians in the world with the leading singers and MCs from the house and hiphop world. We already have some awesome projects in the works with house legend Darryl D'Bonneau, hiphop legend Redman, Grand Puba and the Artifacts and thats just the tip of the iceberg. Good For You Records will be releasing house, techno, funk, soul and hiphop with a concentration on quality productions, live musicianship and crystal clear vocals."
