Krystale & Kaytradamus
Krystale, a Canadian artist with Dominican roots based in Montreal, is a 21 year old with a musical ear and a talent for composition that far exceeds her years. Her raspy voice has often been compared with Fiona Apple, Sarah McLachlan and Norah Jones. What really separates her from her peers is her ability to fuse genres while creating electronic soul/jazz compositions that compliment her distinct voice.
At the end of 2011, she independently released an EP called Reboot, with four of her songs; "Eurydice", "Thumb Wars", "Caught Up" and "Bag of Gold", all written, arranged and produced by Krystale with the exception of "Caught up" which was co-produced with Albert Chambers. These songs were inspired by her newfound love for jazz; a taste she acquired while studying in the renowned Vanier College Music program in Montreal. The people at Rumors, a small and very dedicated label in Montreal, later discovered her.
Ever since, her reputation has been growing in the blogosphere who refer to her as a « future classic ». Her talents have recently crossed the Canadian borders and seduced the American audience. On February 2012, Giant Step chose Krystale as the artist of the month; she then went on to make the cover page of the magazine Amped Sounds.
Last April, she released under the Rumors label a "Double A-side" single: "Caught Up" a smooth jazz/R&B track and "Sweet Tooth" a great collaboration with Montreal beatmaker Kaytradamus.
Kaytradamus is a new sensation in the Montreal beat world. Only 19 years old, this young man already holds an impressive collection of beats. Inspired by disco, the funk of the late 70's and early 80's, hip hop, rap, electro-house as well as techno and many more, Kaytradamus offers a large range of style and taste to his audience.
