With three Supreme Beings of Leisure records under his belt and over 300,000 albums sold, Sakurai knows well both the heights and lows of the industry he's currently circumnavigating. Founded as Oversoul 7 in the mid-90s, the fledgling project shopped a two-sided demo. Both featured the same music, with one delving into hip-hop, the other with a trip-hop vibe, showcasing the sensual vocals of Geri Soriano-Lightwood.
"I started playing piano at four years old," Sakurai recalls. "I was very influenced by the Iranian music my mom would play. My dad used to have a massive collection of exotica records, a lot of that musical influence had seeped into my musical psyche and became part of the SBL sound."
