Only Children covers Metronomy’s “Everything Goes My Way” to bring us the very special “Everything.Goes.OUR.Way,” which will be on their forthcoming project, Love.Shaped.Love.Sounds. The duo consists of Def Sound and Nikko Gray, who claim to have birthed a new genre they call trillwave. On this particular track, Nikko’s vocals sound like a yummy blend of Karma Stewart (of PPP fame) and Ragen Fykes of Grillade. Heart. You can also take a listen to their latest single, “Automatic,” below.

Artist Spotlight: Mara Hruby + “The Panties” Video

Mara Hruby may be new to most, but in the Bay Area this talent is already thriving, gracing the famed Yoshi’s in her first year of performing. Her vocals are haunting; folky, jazzy, soulful – she truly sounds like a dream. Her first project is called, From Her Eyes, where she remakes popular songs by men (November 2010). Recently, she put out her video for Mos Def’s “The Panties;” a whimsical and dream-like feel is complemented by blue tones and soft-focus visuals – add in the stunning Mara and it’s quite a breathtaking sight. The rest of the EP includes covers from The Roots, Andre 3000, D’Angelo, Van Hunt, Bob Marley, and Jamiroquai. Take a listen to that and download below! This lady is a real treat.

Red Hot + Rio 2 Coming This Summer

Red Hot in partnership with Entertainment One Music is set to release Red Hot + Rio 2 on June 28th. A modern tribute to late 60’s Brazilian Tropicália movement, the album will shed new light on the songs of this influential, politically charged era, which changed the culture of the country forever.

The Red Hot Organization is known for two (very important) things: 1/ having impeccable musical taste; and 2/ the ability to channel that taste into projects that successfully raise some serious money to combat HIV/AIDES. Compilations like Dark Was The Night (2009), and Red Hot & Riot (2002), all the way back to the first Red Hot + Rio (1996) have successfully raised over a million dollars and featured star studded line-ups that reminds one of the Grammys.

Red Hot + Rio 2 features over 30 original collaborations between Brazil’s legendary musicians and today’s international indie artists including John Legend, Os Mutantes, Devendra Banhart, Caetano Veloso, Dirty Projectors, Seu Jorge, Beck, Bebel Gilberto, José Gonzalez, Beirut, Tom Zé, Of Montreal, Marisa Monte, Gogol Bordello, DJ Dolores, Aloe Blacc, Angelique Kidjo, Rita Lee, Madlib, Money Mark, Céu, Apollo Nove, Mayra Andrade, Trio Mocotó, Tha Boogie, Alice Smith, Carlinhos Brown, Los Van Van, Brazilian Girls, Marcos Valle, St. Vincent, Neon Indian, Forró In The Dark, Mia Doi Todd, Javelin, and many more.

Adele Covers “Promise This” by Cheryl Cole, Upcoming Album 21 Receives Critical Acclaim

Adele absolutely kills this cover of Cheryl Cole‘s “Promise This” for BBC’s Live Lounge. Originally an upbeat dance song, Adele tones it down to show off her pipes, as she should. Lucky for us, it’s also a technique we hear in her upcoming album, 21.

While the new album by Adele has not officially arrived in the US yet, the Euro scene and the savvy, impatient blogosphere is already eating it up. Some press highlights include:

“With just a piano as backing there are no layers to pull back or hidden meanings to uncover and its simplicity will leave you feeling the full effects of her beautiful make-your-hair-stand-on-end vocals. It’s an early shout, but it could very well be the album of 2011.” – Punchbowl Blog

“This is a serious and frequently astonishing album.” -Holy Moly

“Her second offering has lived up to the reputation she has created from her debut and powerful voice which is the female Johnny Cash.” – M is for Music

21 is simply stunning. … Genuinely brilliant.” – BBC

21 will be released in the US on February 22nd on Columbia Records.
