Like Pete Rock from the second installment in our Hudson series, Afrika Bambaataa threw down as only the godfather of hip hop can. Here are some photos from the night - enjoy!
Giant Step presents Philly's very own Rich Medina to Hudson on June 1. A man capable of turning a party out with just his left pinky finger, Big Rich will hold it down playing hip hop, jazz, house, Afrobeat and bass heavy future soul.
This is the only Monday night party you can count on (even if we say it ourselves), so make sure and come through for one of the most consistently quality selectors in the scene.

In true Giant Step style, alien princess Janelle Monáe gave an unforgettable performance to celebrate the opening of Hudson Hotel's Private Park with Charity Water. In her girl-android persona, she was convincing yet funky in songs like "Many Moons," and her frantic energy was infectious. Later she slowed the vibe down when she sang "Smile," showing off her stunning vocal skills. With the crowd beckoning for more, she closed her set with what has become Janelle's rock star signature finale: crowd surfing into a sea of fans.
Hosted by Hudson, Giant Step, and Charity Water, the event raised enough money in donations to build a Hudson Well and provide more than 225 people with clean water.

Artists Robi Walters and Leanne Wright of Bless-ed are exhibiting two collections of work for a presentation entitled Superimposing The Thought Of Happiness at the Dapper Dan Imperial Gallery in NYC.
Robi and Leanne met in 1991 and spent the ensuing years working as a team designing album covers for some of London's most talented and respected underground dance labels and music producers, including Gilles Peterson, Bebel Gilberto, Innerzone Orchestra (Carl Craig) and Dego (4 Hero). In 2004, they moved back to Leanne's native Canada. Inspired by their surroundings, their two children and their absolute need to create, their art began to flourish.
Bess-ed's works will be showing from Wednesday, May 27 – Saturday, May 31 from 12 – 5 PM. A special private viewing will be held on Thursday, May 28 from 7 – 11 PM with a musical selection by Dego, Ge-ology & Tyler Askew (Rude Movements).
