Mr Day‘s latest project is the release of his first solo album, produced by Patchworks. Small Fry was recorded live with the musicians Mr Day tours with: drummer Rémy Kaprielan and keyboardist Raphaël Chambouvet, his constant accomplice. An extensive record collector, occasional DJ and radio show host, the musical eclectism Mr Day lives by always leads him right back to the path of soul.
The musical style is vast and replete, but the composition and production never manage to fall prey to shortcuts or repetitiveness. Patchworks has said that he wanted the album to be “as deep, ambitious and complete as possible, to equal Mr Day’s immense talent.”
After the jump, stream and download the title track, “Small Fry” and a remix by Patchworks.

We’re really excited about this José James & Jef Neve joint coming soon on Impulse! Enter here to win a signed copy of the CD. The standards are a bit of a departure from the usual José James stuff we’re used to, but this album is surely going to end up in our perfect jazz collections.
