You’ve already received great attention already from major press to gigs at the White House for Barack Obama.  How does it feel to get this international recognition?
Well, it’s very flattering, exciting and a blessing, of course, and it allows me to continue working in music.

You also played in legendary saxophonist Joe Lovano’s band. How did you end up working and touring with him?
I met Joe as a student at Berklee, when I was playing in the student ensembles, at the end of my last year he asked me to do some gigs, and I continued to keep working with him over the years, so that’s been about 5 or 6 years now.

Yvette Rovira: “Let’s Go Out Tonight” + MP3

“Let’s Go Out Tonight” has a backing of funk guitar, horns, and a rolling drumbeat behind Yvette Rovira’s powerful vocals, creating the upbeat dance tune of the album that will start off any night with a burst of energy. The track is a musical and emotional contrast to the rest of the album, which draws on heartfelt, poignant lyrics dealing with love, ambition and social responsibility.

Still, it’s Friday and you might see Yvette Out Tonight, maybe performing with the The Lifted Crew. After the jump, watch her interview with Fiona Bloom’s Efficacy Video Series.

Chiddy Bang: “Sooner or Later” Video

[kml_flashembed movie="http://www.youtube.com/v/YCK3OmhzJQU" width="550" height="445" allowfullscreen="true" fvars="fs=1" /]

We’ve had an eye out for Chiddy Bang since we heard a bit of their upcoming album, The Opposite of Adults, and their fun video of the title track. This video “Sooner or Later” has a much heavier tone, shot entirely from the first person view of Chiddy, live in Nigeria. The message of this video calls for the Nigerian government to take responsibility for the poverty levels and the accompanying problems in the country … sooner or later.

Check out Chiddy Bang’s recent interview with The Couch Sessions here.
