What a great week for new releases! A couple days ago, miss Lianne La Havas released her debut album Is Your Love Big Enough? in the UK. It's incredible to see how quickly this lady skyrocketed in her fame and widespread admiration from just about a year-ish ago after her Black Cab Sessions video.

The lady's voice is powerful, her presence enormous yet down to earth and charming - what more could you ask for? How about parts two and three of Lianne's track by track breakdown video (part two above and part three below)?! If you missed part one, you can catch the post from a week ago.

This album is a must cop, folks. For real, for real.

Aesop Rock is reemerging and we ain't mad at all. View the cinematic video above for the gully kung-fu tactics in "ZZZ Top." Makes us want to record a whole bed of sound effects for our own little amateur production.

The song is off of Aesop's upcoming album, Skelethon, out July 10. Below, you can also catch a behind the scenes view with some firsthand commentary on the album's opening track, "Leisureforce."

Little Dragon has a new tune out compliments of ABSOLUT Punch. The song is called "Sunshine" and features the dreamy Yukimi surrounded by mountains in an expanse of brush. Loving the attention to detail with the lighting and mood in the video. Breathtaking.

Below, catch a behind the scenes look at the making of the track along with some commentary from our favorite quirky Swedes. And after the jump, take a look at dates for Little Dragon on their US and European tour!

Interview: Pete Rock to Play @ Le Poisson Rouge, NYC – June 30

    June 26th, 2012

Yep. Pete Rock will be spinning at Le Poisson Rouge in NYC this Saturday, June 30 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Mecca And The Soul Brother.

We caught up with Pete this week for a few questions asking him to look back, share what's coming up, and let us know what's good for the big night!

More info on Saturday's event, including ticket link.

Giant Step: Looking back, what's your fondest memory from recording Mecca And The Soul Brother?

Pete Rock: Working with Heavy D doing "The Basement" song.

GS: If you had to pick today, what's your favorite track on the album and why?

Pete Rock: "Reminisce" is my favorite track because it is my tears on wax.

GS: To you, who was Pete Rock then and who is Pete Rock today?

Pete Rock: Pete Rock then was a young, excited DJ and producer trying to reach my goals. Today I am a father, husband, and legend trying to keep hip hop alive.

GS: We know it's going to be hotness regardless, but what can folks expect to hear at LPR on saturday?

Pete Rock: Everything!!! The music I grew up with that influenced me. A special mix of my favorite songs off of Mecca And The Soul Brother and the music that inspired that album.

GS: Looks like Petestrumentals II is brewing. What's in store? What can you tell us about the Petestrumentals of 2001 versus this new one?

Pete Rock: Yes, Petestrumentals II is creatively in the works. There won't a be a huge difference, just a continuation from the first album.

GS: What else is new with you? Any other gems being concocted in the lab?!

Pete Rock: Yes, lots of projects are being developed. First one out this year is the Camp Lo project titled 80 Blocks From Tiffany's. Working on a DJ Premier vs. Pete Rock project that will come out in late 2013. Also collaborating with Roy Ayers and working with Robert Glasper.
