This is the first single to be released from Belleruche‘s third studio album, 270 Stories, set to hit the shelves on October 11th, 2010 on Tru Thoughts Records. The London based group’s lead singer, Kathrin deBoer, has a sound that epitomizes the word soulful. Look out for Belleruche’s album in the fall.
This week, Gilles goes as deep as he wants to, starting off with some sunshine by Seu George (Roy Ayers’ classic, “Everybody Loves the Sunshine”), playing tunes by Flying Lotus, Janelle Monae, and finishing off the show with “On a Clear Day” by the Charlie Byrd Trio. Elephino (pictured above) brings us the Worldwide Family Mixtape this week, mixing in some of his own work with other artists including Prince, Joy Orbison, and Kid Kanevil.
Mick Boogie brings us a fresh blend of Big Boi and Rick Ross in Southernplayalisticmaybachmusic, a new mixtape released yesterday. We were teased with an early release of “Shutterbug (Remix),” but now you can download the whole tape. The rappers’ two distinctive styles (each has at least a verse on every song) and a number of smooth R&B style hooks create a dynamic mix of tracks. See the back cover with a full track list after the jump.
Big Boi’s new album, Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty, is coming out July 6th, while Rick Ross’s Teflon Don will be released July 20th, so keep an eye out for those next month.
The guys from Brownswood have put together a new compilation album; Brownswood Electr*c will be available June 28th. In the international spirit of the World Cup season (shout out to the USA and England’s move to the next round), it features some of today’s most promising electronic artists from all over the globe, ranging from Estonia and Norway to Iceland. The Brownswood Electr*c album commemorates the music that occupies the grey areas, the sounds that blur the boundaries between so-called hip-hop, house, techno, and dubstep. This album, like every release, has the stamp of approval from Brownswood label owner and BBC Radio show host, Gilles Peterson. A sample of the tracks are streaming in the video above, and you can see the full track list after the jump.
