Si*Sé “This Love” – Hird Remix

remixcover_smTo follow the Crystal Pharoah Remix of Si*Sé‘s “This Love,” we have a new remix by Hird, best known for his album Moving On with Yukimi Nagano (Little Dragon). This track is on the mellow side of house, but the driving instrumentation makes it great for the dance floor. It has elements of breakbeat in the verses, undulated bass lines, and subtle touches of jazz.

Si*Sé‘s EP, Gold, comes out next week on March 9th.

Talib Kweli & Hi-Tek, AKA Reflection Eternal, have teased us for years now with the promise of a follow-up to their classic album Train of Thought. Finally, things seem to be coming together, so we are eagerly anticipating new music any day now. If “In this World” is any indication, it will be worth the wait.

Early Listening from NPR: The Gorillaz and Broken Bells

brokenbellsThe Exclusive First Listen feature on NPR has a very funky selection of full album streams available today, including The Gorillaz‘s new album Plastic Beach and the Broken Bells self-titled debut. Broken Bells is collaboration between Danger Mouse and James Mercer of The Shins. NPR calls their debut album “a smart pop record full of melody and invention.”

Plastic Beach
is packed with big names ranging from Snoop Dogg and Mos Def to Bobby Womack and Lou Reed, to our Swedish little favorite, Little Dragon. NPR calls Plastic Beach “a genre-bending collection of glitchy club beats and hip-hop grooves, augmented by brass, glitzy synthesizers and Asian- and Arabic-tinged orchestral harmonies.”
