Exclusive Track by The Beast: “Come Up, Come Down” + MP3

The Beast & Nnenna Freelon released their jazz-hip-hop hybrid, Freedom Suite, for free download on Okayplayer’s new jazz-inspired channel, The Revivalist, in October. Since then, extra goodies have been released to supplement the Freedom Suite album: the “Freedom Pt 2″ music video, a Phonte freestyle and the non-album track, “Black Fantastic.”

This song “Come Up, Come Down” is more complete than a freestyle, but not quite polished enough to be a final studio track. Not included anywhere on the album, this song showcases the unique composition of The Beast. This full album is available for free on Bandcamp.

Jalyn – “Summer of ’88″ + MP3

Jalyn is a multi-faceted music producer who leads visual projects and develops music scores for ad campaigns, TV shows and films through his company, Music By Jalyn.  After scoring Shandra McDonald’s film, Can’t Let Go, Jalyn quickly gained attention in the indie world and has since gone on to score music full-time for recording artists, brands, films/TV, and for fans.

But Jalyn is first and foremost a musician, an instrumentalist who plays piano, guitar and drums. In January 2011, he will be releasing a micro album called Pushing Through Walls via free download. Jalyn’s production is a vivacious blend of hip-hop, pop, alternative soul and electronica, spanning all genres.

“This one guy Jalyn had such a crazy flavor that we were going to use three [songs] from him but we were like, we can’t make this guy remix the whole album. He remixed ‘Uptown Girl’ [on my Yes! Remix Album] and he has this John Hughes, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off – 80s music [feel], very authentic with his own touch to it.” - K-OS
