They’re back, and they’re even harder, better faster and stronger than before!  Last night, Daft Punk made a surprise appearance at Madison Square Gardens during the Phoenix concert.  Fog filled the stage, and when it cleared, Daft Punk was revealed in their usual attire of suits and futuristic helmets.  They then played a quick set alongside their fellow Frenchmen, Phoenix.

Their appearance coincides with the creation of their soundtrack for the upcoming movie Tron: Legacy.  The Tron: Legacy soundtrack will be released December 7th.  A major coup for all you Daft Punk fans out there waiting for their return.

Dubber Side of the Moon: Easy Star All-Stars Remixed

Inspired by the burgeoning dub step scene and dub visionaries such as On-U Sound’s Adrian Sherwood and Mad Professor, the Easy Star All-Stars have compiled Dubber Side of the Moon. To be released this Tuesday, Dubber Side is a remix collection of the much lauded reggae smash Dub Side of The Moon. Each track features a unique dub producer exploring spaced-out reggae and bass-heavy remixes of the original Dub Side of the Moon, a reggae tribute to Pink Floyd’s iconic Dark Side of the Moon.

The All-Stars’ resident soundman The Alchemist‘s interpretation of “Money” is a bass bleeder from the start and is probably the track that fits easiest into the dub step category, but Kalbata‘s might be the most innovative mix on the album. Israeli born and signed to Soul Jazz Records, his mix merges the tech sound into dub-step. Boston’s mysterious 10 Ft Ganja Plant also provides roots heavy remixes to the album.

New Quincy Jones Track Feat. Ludacris: “Soul Bossa Nostra”

We already gave you a taste of what to expect from Quincy Jones‘ new collaborative album entitled, Q: Soul Bossa Nostra (set for release in November).  Now, here is the album’s title track “Soul Bossa Nostra”, which Ludacris, Naturally 7 and Rudy Currence (signed to DTP) have given a hip hop revamp. Jones’ 1962 single was re-born as the Austin Powers theme song and sampled by Ludacris on his 2005 single “Number One Spot,” which garnered him a VMA.
