Janelle Monáe truly gave us an epic show on Tuesday night, supported by DJ Moni. Those of you who stood patiently in line got into the venue with plenty of time to get your groove on and revel in Janelle Monáe’s The ArchAndroid Spectacular Emotion Picture experience. If you didn’t make it, maybe you can catch Janelle on tour with Erykah Badu. It’s a show not to be missed. But no matter who you are, cop the new album as soon as possible.

The long-anticipated album from Janelle Monáe will be released tomorrow: The ArchAndroid. If you’ve been living under a rock and haven’t seen it yet, check out the video for “Tightrope” here.

These photos were taken at last week’s SVEDKA Miami release party for The ArchAndroid, hosted by Janelle Monáe. And tomorrow night, to celebrate her new release, Ms. Monáe will give a very special performance at Highline Ballroom (NYC) with DJ Moni. It will be a magical evening in Metropolis, so we hope you can make it. If you didn’t RSVP in time, try your luck in the contest for free tickets — quick.

Photos of José James at Hiro Ballroom, NYC

Our show with José James this weekend was a great success. José and his band were on point with their blend of classic jazz structures, experimental sounds and hip hop rhythms. Jordana de Lovely sang background vocals, providing a nice feminine counterpart to José’s smooth deep voice.

Between songs, José made sure to thank his major influences and collaborators, including Flying Lotus and Taylor McFerrin. He noted Nancy Wilson, Dinah Washington (and many more) after his version of “Save Your Love For Me,” and expressed his dedication to Billy Strayhorn before launching into “Lush Life.”  Overall, José and the band wowed the audience with various tracks from Blackmagic and a couple tracks off his upcoming project with Jef Neve on Impulse, For All We Know.

Enjoy the photos, and a big thank you to those of you who came out!
