Video: The Black Keys – “Gold On The Ceiling”

    February 10th, 2012

Clearly you’ve been rocking out to El Camino ever since it came out, because seriously, how can The Black Keys not give you life?

The lo-fi vibe video for “Gold On The Ceiling” is no different with it’s intimate perspective shots of tour life and live performances – too much fun. We’re barely landing these characters on the keyboard because we’re dancing so hard.

    Video: Rhye – “Open” (Live) + MP3

    February 10th, 2012

LA based production duo Rhye are purportedly concealing their identities, so while we can’t quite tell you who they are, we can say that their debut single is pretty rad. “Open” is a dainty, stripped down ballad liable to induce some shivers and floating sensations. Above, find a live ‘living room’ performance and below, stream and download the original track!

Chiddy Bang To Release ‘Breakfast’ + “By Your Side” Video

    February 9th, 2012

Last month, you discovered the hip hop jingle that made up the bouncy video for “Ray Charles” by Philadelphia’s Chiddy Bang. Now it’s time to take it to the next level with their upcoming Breakfast album, due on February 28th. Act like that bacon isn’t changing your life right now.

Below, catch the video for the mellower non-album track, “By Your Side” – a sweet tune just in time for Valentine’s Day. Nice to see artists showcasing different sides.

Video: Delilah – “Love You So”

    February 8th, 2012

A gorgeous video and mesmerizing track by London artist Delilah. “Love You So” features Delilah’s addictive honey-coated vocals carrying a quality vaguely similar to Teedra Moses, but carried out completely differently.

Love the simplicity, muted tones, textures, and motion edits in this video. Can’t stop staring or listening. Repeat.

Video: Stac & Royce Wood Jr. – “Wet” (Live)

    February 8th, 2012

Stac and Royce Wood Jr. got together this past December to put together a live session for Mary Anne Hobbs, exclusively for XFM. According to Stac, the experience was very surreal:

It was crazy. The only day that we could do it all was on Friday 23rd December. STRESS! So much preparation went into it, the OneTaste choir came and sang, The Dans got involved on bass guitar and kit (they play regularly for Jono McCleery and Jamie Woon, they are bad ass), Nick Lee from Amber States hopped on the guitar and Jamie Woon grabbed a mic, as did I. It was all very exciting.

Above, you’ll find the video for “Wet,” which will be out on February 13th! Enjoy.

    Video: Melo-X – “Fire Geomu”

    February 7th, 2012

Inspired by globetrotting, Melo-X recently released his first full-length instrumental release, Fewture. Above is the video for the first single, “Fire Geomu,” a jazz-tinged, downtempo trance-ish track. Surprisingly, it works.

The beautiful soft lights and hypnotizing use of motion, amongst other eye candy, are thanks to TONE and Vinny Picone, two video geniuses and pals of ours.

Video: The Park – “These Are The Days”

    February 6th, 2012

The Park is totally radical. The Bay Area rhythm section also backs many favorites like BIG K.R.I.T., Freddie Gibbs, Alice Russell, Jesse Boykins III. “These Are The Days” is the first video from their three-song release in December, also called These Are The Days.

Get ready for a funky guitar-ridden vocoder-saturated meltdown featuring every day working folks, California gorgeousness, kaleidoscope explosions, and literary reminders of a very important manifesto. Rock on, bro.

Video: TK Wonder & Kissey – “Get Down & Dirty”

    February 3rd, 2012

TK Wonder & Kissey have formed a union to create some seriously legit funky electro jams. Yes, folks, Kissey is indeed the bad mama behind the production with TK Wonder on the criminally sexy vocals.

These two heartbreakers put together might be cause for watching this video with some lab goggles – just saying. Rawr.

Video: Esperanza Spalding – “Black Gold” ft. Algebra Blessett

    February 3rd, 2012

Esperanza Spalding’s new video for “Black Gold” sees a timely premiere at the start of Black History Month. Featuring Atlanta based vocalist Alegbra Blessett, the duet is a darling and empowering anthem for self-love and pride in a rich history. A storyline of a father and his two sons is woven into the performance portion of video and is quite the tearjerker. Watch and celebrate!
