About Frank Gossner / Voodoo Funk:
In 1996, Frank Gossner founded the infamous NYC sleazefest Vampyros Lesbos at Bar XVI in the East Village that lasted for 4 years. A few years later, he moved to Berlin and founded the Soul Explosion, a night fueled by hard-hitting Funk 45s that soon became the most serious Deep Funk party on the European mainland. In 2005, Frank embarked on a 3 year long, intense record digging road trip all over West Africa. On extensive travels through Guinea, Sierra Leone, Ghana and Benin, he found thousands of rare and astonishing records from the 1970s, uncovering uncountable Afrobeat and African Funk records but also loads of smoking Afro Latin, Deep Highlife and blistering Nigerian Disco. In 2008, Frank returned to NYC to share these incredible finds.
