Giant Step Presents Danny Krivit
Last year's Hudson Series was our best to date, or at least our favorite. It felt especially good because we started and ended on a high note, that note being legendary New York DJ Danny Krivit. Because we are fans of symbolism over here, we decided to kick off this year's series with none other than our dear friend (and good luck charm) Danny Krivit.
Entrance is free but strictly RSVP only.
A New Year, a new Hudson Series. Three years of our wildly popular bi-weekly series has brought legendary talent from around the globe, like Danny Krivit, Pete Rock, Afrika Bambaataa, Joaquin 'Joe' Claussell, Alex Barck (of Jazzanova), Louie Vega, King Britt, DJ Spinna, Vikter Duplaix, and many, many more, to the Hudson Bar at Hudson Hotel. To celebrate the new series in proper form, we have moved the party downstairs to the new Good Units at Hudson space.
Growing up in Greenwich Village, New York City in the 1960s, Danny Krivit was influenced the most by one DJ and one club: DJ David Mancuso and The Loft. This is where Danny began his life long friendships with DJs Larry Levan and Francois Kevorkian (Francois K), who co-founded Body & Soul Sessions with Danny and Joe Claussell.
Krivit is now the resident DJ of the award-winning "Best Party In NYC," The 718 Sessions in Manhattan. Since the early 80's, he's been a major force in bringing attention and world acceptance to the art of editing, earning him the status of "King Of The Re-edit." He is a key player in the history of NY night life and certainly one of the very few who can honestly say he's consistently DJ'd in all of NY's hottest clubs for the last 35 years!
Out on September 14th on Strut Records is Danny Krivit's latest collection Edits By Mr. K Vol. 2. This exciting new collection showcases a mastery of the art of edit that Krivit has honed over the years.
