Dance-floor diva M.I.A. makes a powerful return to the scene with the blazing new single "Boyz" from her forthcoming album 'Kala.'
Recently teasing fans worldwide by leaking the new tracks "XR2" and "BirdFlu" herself, U.K. underground superstar M.I.A. is set to release her new album Kala, August 21st on Interscope Records/XL Recordings. Storming the scene in 2005 with her massively successful debut Arular, audiences everywhere have been eagerly anticipating what the youthful, Sri Lanka-born innovator has up her sleeve. Needless to say, it's been well worth the wait. Teaming up with the likes of Switch, Diplo, Timbaland, Afrikan Boy, Blaqstarr, and Morganics / The Wilcannia Mob, M.I.A has guaranteed that Kala packs a punch from beginning to end.
Here on 12-inch and enhanced-CD is a preemptive strike in the form of her new single, "Boyz." This riotous track finds M.I.A. picking up right where she left off, while also venturing into entirely new terrain. Produced by London's Switch, the song's jerky B-more breaks and energetic Baile-bounce sets the stage for M.I.A.'s ruthless vocal onslaught. With the video (shot in Jamaica) already building a buzz in the press and on the blogs, "Boyz" will definitely be causing lots of trouble this summer. Also included on both the 12-inch and the CD are the instrumental and a cappella versions, primed for your mashup/remix indulgence. Careful guys, M.I.A. is back with POWER! POWER!
