Solange Knowles's family heritage is a creative powerhouse. She is the youngest in the talented family of Mathew Knowles, Tina Knowles and, of course, sister Beyonce Knowles. Trained in ballet, jazz, tap and an expert in modern dance, Solange (a.k.a. SoL-AngeL) started as a back up dancer with Destiny's Child, giving her the opportunity to travel all around the world and further develop her eclectic taste for music. It was around that time that Solange developed her knack for the written word and began writing hit songs for film and television, as well as for her debut album Solo Star. She has since garnered an impressive list of songwriting credits which include co-writing Beyonce's, "Get Me Bodied" and "Upgrade You" (off of the B'Day album), Kelly Rowland's "Love" off of her second album, as well as Ms. Kelly and Michelle Williams' latest single "We Break the Dawn."
Solange's new album, SoL-AngeL and The Hadley St. Dreams, features a dream-team of hot producers and songwriters that include: Grammy winner Mark Ronson, The Neptunes, Q-Tip, Lamont Dozier, SoulShock & Karlin, Jack Splash, Lil' Wayne, Boards of Canada, Bilal, Marsha Ambrosius of Floetry and, of course, Solange herself. The CD is a sample of Solange's artistic and creative approach to music, taking listeners to a time when music was less provocative and came from a place of inspiration and storytelling. Currently on tour to support the release of the new album, Solange recently played through an entire show with a broken foot she had injured just before going on stage. A true professional and extremely passionate about her art, Solange will continue on with the remainder of the tour while in a cast. In the face of life's pain and struggles, Solange has proven her dedication to making her dreams come true.
