Martina first came onto the music scene as the purring voice on trip-hop pioneer Tricky's most spectacular records Maxinquaye and Pre-Millenium Tension. Her unique sounds echoes other prominent female artists like Bjork, Erykah Badu, Nina Simone and Billie Holiday all at once. Her debut solo album Quixotic was nominated for a Mercury Prize in her native UK and now the album is surfacing in the US as Anything, a powerful statement of what Martina can do when left to her own devices. Tricky does return the favor, lending his trademark gruff delivery to the forward thinking electronic tracks "Ragga" and "Ilya." Though these songs recall the glory days of the duo, Martina proves that she can do it on her own with this stunning new album.
