Video: Sola Rosa – “Turn Around” ft. Iva Lamkum

SOLA ROSA – Turn Around feat. Iva Lamkum from MPMTV on Vimeo.

The Auckland and Sydney based band, Sola Rosa releases their playful video for “Turn Around.” Sola Rosa shows off their signature talent for blending a well rounded Latin-infused sound that includes hip hop, reggae, jazz, soul and funk. Featuring the jazzy stylings of New Zealand singer/songwriter, Iva Lamkum, the track is infectious and undeniably harmonious. And per the video, it does kind of make you want to jerk. Available soon as a 7″ single with a remix by Suff Daddy on the flip.

We continue to see Stones Throw Records expand their horizons beyond hip-hop, and as usual, they stray far, far left in genres. Bryant K is another example, with his single “Daisies Grow.” He’s been active on the NYC scene since relocating in the mid-90s from St. Louis, Prague and Berlin, and is known to be the “downtown swinger.” He was also the first to broadcast East Village Radio on Monday nights from 6-8 PM with a show called B-sides.

His 7″ single, “Daises Grow” is now on sale as vinyl or MP3, b/w “Stars”
