Video: Yours Truly x A K U A- “All Of Lust”

Akua _ All Of Lust _ Pop Montreal from Yours Truly on Vimeo.

A K U A stepped away from her performance schedule during Pop Montreal 2013 to record an intimate, live video with acclaimed production outfit Yours Truly. Today, the world can peek into the session courtesy of a premiere with The Line Of Best Fit. As the sun beams past rustling leaves and into the space swirling with disco ball reflections, she breaks into an unreleased track, “All Of Lust.”

As she tells Yours Truly, “I went to Thailand a long time ago… that song is actually just kind of about the dynamic between foreign, male tourists and kind of like looking at Thailand through a lustful foreigner’s eyes and sort of going to a place with certain intentions and then being driven by lust.”

If you are heading to Austin for SXSW, be sure to check out her performance on Thursday, March 13th at Maggie Mae’s [8:00pm, presented by M for Montreal].

Video: A K U A – “One’s Company”

After releasing her debut EP last June, Montreal’s A K U A is back with a video to the title track, “One’s Company,” courtesy of Noisey. From the embalming room and chapel at Harlem’s Owens Funeral Home, she hops in a hearse cruising down Malcolm X Boulevard making her way to a cemetery in Queens.

After opening for Solange in Montreal around release, A K U A earned the spot as a back-up singer for her. She was soon on the road making her debut appearance with Solange at Pitchfork Music Festival and hitting cities across multiple continents.
