Almaz make their only New York City appearance on Friday, July 30 at Terminal 5 as a part of their Summer US tour promoting their latest project, Everybody Loves The Sunshine. While singer, Seu Jorge, is well known for throwing an amazing show, this new collaboration of musical masters revisiting songs famous within the Brazilian diaspora (Tim Maia, Jorge Ben) meshed with classic American (Roy Ayers, Michael Jackson) and European (Kraftwerk, Cane and Abel) soul songs, with a bit of psychedelic samba to top it off, promises to be a glorious foot stomping orgy. If you haven’t already, this is the time to get your tickets before they run out.

On the video for the opening track to Márcio Local’s album Márcio Local Says, “Don Day Don Dree Don Don”: Adventures In Samba Soul, he takes us on the perfect trip through Brazil: beach-side bliss, Carnival, football, sunshine, sunsets, and the lush countryside.
Márcio Local stands at the crossroads of two great traditions in modern Brazilian music, with one foot in samba, the heavily percussive Afro-Brazilian dance music that took its modern form in the early twentieth century, and the other in soul, the African American music rooted in the blues that attracted a mass audience in Brazil in the 1960s and 1970s.
The album is out May 12th on Luaka Bop. More Info
