Houston based DJ/producer DJ Sun originally came up in Rotterdam and Suriname and today releases his debut album, 100. The project brings together 20 years of work, fusing electronic sounds with live instrumentation and a healthy dose of Houston vocalists.
100 focuses on music at 100 BPM, as DJ Sun explains in his video interview above. Learn more about this seasoned artist and his melange of sound in the interview.
Below, listen to "Heart Seed," which features Leah Alvarez and Martin Perna of Antibalas.
Definitely don't hear too much soulful Hanukkah music during the holiday season, whereas a variety of Christmas music always seems to be in abundance - so, this is refreshing. Chico Mann invited our lovely gal Alecia Chakour to lend her vocals for the warm and cozy new tune, "Light of Love." Got us dreaming of candlelight, fireplaces, and hot chocolate on this Thursday afternoon.
Also, for those unfamiliar with Alecia, please get to knowing and be sure to check her out on December 20 for a very special show. The night is going to be killer. Alecia shared with us:
"What makes this night even cooler is that the bands feature allstars from The Royal Family (Soulive, Lettuce), Daptone Records (Dap-Kings, Charles Bradley, Antibalas), David Byrne's band and TV On the Radio. Basically, 20 of my favorite musicians in one tiny room."

Antibalas can be sure to liven up any stage, that's without a doubt. Today, we've got a video of them grooving out to "Him Belly No Go Sweet" for Musiques du Monde. Time to take a break, twirl around, and free your mind a little bit, we say.
The famed afrobeaters Antibalas will be soon releasing a self-titled album on August 7. Above is their first video from the upcoming album for a track called "Dirty Money." Muppets get their Wall Street on in suits, cubes, cabs, and alleyways. Some dancing with a hammer in there, too. Hammer grooving like nobody's business, actually.
Octote Soul Sounds has returned with their funk-infused afrobeat sounds on their fourth studio album, Taurus (May 31st). Consisting of Adrian Quesada of Grupo Fantasma and Martin Perna of Antibalas, each man bears an impressive resume, with Grupo Fantasma's 2011 Grammy and Antibalas backing the Tony Award winning Broadway show, "Fela!"
Produced by Eric Hilton of Thievery Corporation and released on ESL Music, Taurus features guest spots from Natalia Clavier, Sitali, Verny Varela and Chico Mann. Looking for something to shake to? This is it. Download the opening track from the album, "Primavera," for free below!
