If you are among the lucky ones heading south to Austin for the annual SXSW festival then you need to make note of the following showcase (trust me, you will kick yourself if you miss this one): On Friday, March 18th, Giant Step teams up with Tru Thoughts, ESL Music and Bastard Jazz to bring you a night of music you will not forget. Showcasing Nickodemus, Belleruche (Tru Thoughts), Ancient Astronauts (ESL Music), DJ Obah (Dubspot), Rob Luis (Tru Thoughts), DJ DRM (Bastard Jazz), Barry Cole and Giant Step’s own Erik The Red. The usually quiet Kenichi will be conquered by the beat, and turned into a haven of music starting at 7:00pm. Entrance is free, but strictly RSVP, so come ready to get sexy and get down.
This weekend on June 27th and 28th, Dubspot, New York’s premier DJ and electronic music production institute, has teamed up with Ableton to present the Live 8 US Sessions Tour in NYC.
It’s the second stop of the tour, featuring established artists like Richie Hawtin & Scientist, who will present their personally developed strategies and techniques for producing and performing with Ableton Live 8.
To top off the weekend workshop on Sunday, Dubspot and Ableton celebrate Dubspot’s 2 year anniversary at Le Poisson Rouge.
Legendary Scientist will mix live with Dub Is A Weapon, followed by DJ sets from Matt Shadetek & DJ Rupture of Dutty Artz, Kiva, Barry Cole and Badawi. This will also be the first party of Dubspot’s new monthly night!
