Video: Miguel – “Pussy Is Mine” (Live)

There is not a thing bashful about Miguel’s “Pussy Is Mine” track off Kaleidoscope Dreams. A Bay Area audience recently got a fervent performance of the song, Miguel makes his point very, very clear. Screaming girls willingly assent to the undeniably sexy man’s request. Watch above – perhaps with a anti-impregnation forcefield. Just saying.

Drunken Monkey ft. Chrys-Anthony – ‘Diggin’ Pony’ EP

Oakland producer Drunken Monkey and San Francisco vocalist Chrys-Anthony have combined forces to create a dazzling work with an inimitable sound. The title track, “Diggin’ Pony,” explodes with Chrys-Anthony’s signature primal scream and Jeff “DJ F” Straw’s saxophone blasts. Jazzy, funky, and soulful, the Diggin’ Pony EP (released through Splintered Tree Records, August 1st) boasts a force to be reckoned with. Drunken Pony’s production pulls you out of your seat and Chrys-Anthony’s stylings hold a gripping depth similar to Cee-Lo Green’s.

New Release: The Park – ‘The Process’ EP + “Excuses” Video

The Park – “Excuses” from John Coyne on Vimeo.

The Bay Area holds a hidden arsenal of musicians that often tend to remain behind the scenes. Amongst them is The Park, with a rhythm section consisting of Derek Taylor (drums), Josh Lippi (bass), Ben Schwier (keyboard), and Nate Mercereau (guitar). Having spent the last several years backing the likes of Alice Russell, Darondo, Freddie Gibbs, and Big KRIT, the group has been meticulously crafting their debut alongside their very busy schedule.

This week, The Park finally released The Process EP and we are super juiced. The first single, “Excuses,” is a funky, jazzed out soul groove that’ll have you body rolling in no time – check out the video above!

Artist Spotlight: Mara Hruby + “The Panties” Video

[kml_flashembed movie="" width="550" height="445" allowfullscreen="true" fvars="fs=1" /]

Mara Hruby may be new to most, but in the Bay Area this talent is already thriving, gracing the famed Yoshi’s in her first year of performing. Her vocals are haunting; folky, jazzy, soulful – she truly sounds like a dream. Her first project is called, From Her Eyes, where she remakes popular songs by men (November 2010). Recently, she put out her video for Mos Def’s “The Panties;” a whimsical and dream-like feel is complemented by blue tones and soft-focus visuals – add in the stunning Mara and it’s quite a breathtaking sight. The rest of the EP includes covers from The Roots, Andre 3000, D’Angelo, Van Hunt, Bob Marley, and Jamiroquai. Take a listen to that and download below! This lady is a real treat.
