Joy Jones' 2nd single from her album Godchild is "Over", with this video directed by Coodie and Chike, and 'The Soulful Fundamentalist' (Keith C Harris). Coodie & Chike are the buzzworthy video directors who are best known for their debut in 2004 with Kanye West’s "Through the Wire" (Video of the Year - The Source Hip Hop Awards). Since then, they have followed with work for artists such as Mos Def and Freeway, SA-RA Creative Partners, Leela James, Lil’ Jon, Fishbone, and others. Currently they are shooting their debut picture The Noonie G. Story, the documentary on Chicago gangster, Harold ‘Noonie’ Ward, narrated by the rapper, Common.
Godchild on Future Soul Records is available from iTunes now.
Honorary ladybug of the Bugz In The Attic crew, Joy Jones recently recorded an impressive take of Nina Simone's "Be My Husband," expanding on Simone's sparse original. Though the track will not appear on Jones' forthcoming Godchild album (out July 7 on Future Soul Records), it is true to her future jazz stylings and available for free.
