New Release: Cecilia Stalin – ‘Step Like A Giant’

Now this is something truly special. Also taking inspiration from our namesake, John Coltrane’s Giant Steps album, Swedish vocalist Cecilia Stalin has released her Step Like A Giant project.

She has done an overwhelmingly beautiful job paying homage to one of our most cherished musical greats. She speaks on the project:

This project was born deep down in my heart when I first heard “Naima” by John Coltrane. I fell deeply in love with the melody and then even more with the lyrics after learning more about him. I have ever since spiritually been working with the music of John Coltrane and it’s now come out in new shapes, forms and ideas.

Cecilia aims to use the project to introduce Coltrane’s music to those who may not yet be familiar. Stream the project below and become inspired yourself!

New Release: Analog Players Society – ‘Vols. 1 & 2′ + MP3

Producer, engineer, and percussionist Amon (Turntables on the Hudson) leads the Analog Players Society, a collective and community of musicians rooted at The Hook Studio in Brooklyn, NY. Judging from their music, vibrance is at the helm. Today, the collective releases their Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 7″ projects, both of which you can stream tracks from below!

We particularly fancy the rework of the 1986 hit song “I Can’t Wait” by Nu Shooz featuring the magnificent Cecilia Stalin (Koop) over a full horn section

Free for download is Vince Guaraldi’s classic “Christmas Time Is Here.” Enjoy!

New Release: Sarah White – ‘Space Madness’

Brooklyn based Sarah White dropped her Space Madness album today as a name-your-price download. The sound is a varied electro-soul and includes features from Nicholas Ryan Gant and Cecilia Stalin, amongst others. The mood shifts from rockish to spacey to 80′s ballad and on – the lady is versatile. Sarah’s voice soothes and provides the perfect ambient soundtrack to a quiet evening.

Please note that half the proceeds from the album will go to Sarah’s label, Cultura Love (a new record label and non-profit), and kids in need.
