Brooklyn-based Ikebe Shakedown releases their self-titled album today. The rich sound of this seven-piece band borrows elements from "cinematic soul, afro-funk, deep disco, and boogaloo." The album is their first on the esteemed record label Ubiquity, and represents an important part in their journey as a group: "Our sound has grown to incorporate our influences without overtly representing any one in particular. It just sounds like us," says bassist Vince Chiarito.
Enter Giant Step's contest for a chance to win the album on CD or LP vinyl plus a t-shirt, and check out Ikebe (pronounced "ee-KAY-bay") at Southpaw in Brooklyn this Thursday, June 9th for the record release party.
