Complimentary 42BELOW Vodka drinks will be served so make sure you come early to get your CMJ Tuesday started right! Entrance is free but strictly RSVP only, or with a CMJ badge, so make sure you RSVP before we close the list in a bit.
42BELOW, NZ On Air, and the NZ Music Commission bring you one of the hottest tickets at the CMJ this year. On Tuesday, October 19th, get ready to experience New Zealand’s finest musical talents brought to you from across the oceans, and placed in the lap of New York City at (Le) Poisson Rouge. Showcasing Zowie, Street Chant, Kids Of 88, Electric Wire Hustle, Ruby Frost and Lawrence Arabia, New Zealand comes prepared and to ready to school you on all they have to offer (besides a killer Rugby team).
Just in case all that wasn’t enough, complimentary 42BELOW cocktails will be served all night (or until we run out). Entrance is free, but strictly RSVP only (also free w/ a CMJ badge), and granted on a ‘first come, first served basis’ so make sure you get there early as last year’s installment drew out over 1,000 fans. Doors open at 5:45pm and show starts at 6:00pm sharp.

Just under one thousand revelers celebrated CMJ Music Marathon’s opening night with the NZ@CMJ Showcase presented by 42BELOW Vodka. A long line formed outside of SoHo’s Red Bull Space to catch up-and-coming New Zealand rock bands Die! Die! Die!, Surf City, Motocade, Kingston and Bang Bang Eche, along with hip hop acts David Dallas, Kidz In Space and Smashproof. The NZ@CMJ Showcase was organized through the collaborative efforts of New Zealand music promotion agencies NZ On Air and the NZ Music Commission and New York’s Giant Step.
On Wednesday October 21st Plug Research will invade BLVD NYC on Bowery with some of the best soul, hip hop and experimental music of today by some of the most dynamic and interesting artists of today.
Bilal will headline the show with a six piece band, and the host of the evening is Pharoahe Monch. Shafiq Husayn of the SA-RA collective will perform material off the new album Shafiq En’ A-Free-Ka, with musical collaborators from the album Stephen “Thundercat“ Bruner and Miguel Atwood-Ferguson. Exile will be showcasing his famous wizadry on the MPC with a guest spot by Blu, one of the best new MC’s around. DJ sets will be provided by Blu Jemz, the legendary Large Professor and mind-blowing combination of Spinna and J Rocc.
