Theophilus London – “Oops!” [MP3]

Theophilus delivered a message with “I Want You,” [thanks to hypetrak.com] and we will not compromise his vision by correcting meaningless syntax or spelling errors:

“This track sparked the whole mixtape!
I bought every single Marvin Gaye record i could fine.. and spent an entire 2 months listening while working on my album in LA. I then bought the separate parts from the original song I WANT YOU by Marvin Gaye and
recorded my verse and singing in LONDON. I put all the different instruments together for the new wave version :)

It was a pleasure Covering this song! I really Want my Listeners! and this is my way of telling them!!
I am very Excited for people to hear my new desires and I just want Girls to wake up and put this on! eat their breakfast smoke their brains out and enjoy I WANT YOU”

VV Brown Covers “Padlock”

padlockVV Brown covered Gwen Guthrie‘s hit “Padlock” as part of HMV’s My Inspiration series, where artists choose musical influences and pay tribute by covering their music.

VV’s cover, “Padlock,” is layered with big vocals, synths and power chords, as any 80s pop hit should be. Now we know where she gets it.

VV Brown’s “Miss You”

eus24-003-mfThe lovely Ms. VV Brown does not waste time. While she’s touring internationally, she’s steadily dropping acoustic videos and low-fi recordings on the web. Download her cover of the Rolling Stones’ track, “Miss You” (and turn the volume up!).  If this soul-drenched version of the rock song sounds familiar, you might be remembering the days of Musiq Soulchild and his 2003 album Soulstar. (Revisit Musiq’s version here)

Travelling Like the Light, the upcoming full-length album, will be released in the US on Capitol Records on February 9, 2010.
