Giant Step presents a celebration for the launch of Fania’s Hammock House: Africa Caribe mixed and produced by Joaquin “Joe” Claussell on Tuesday, May 10th, at Le Bain at The Standard, New York. Featuring Joaquin “Joe” Claussell and special guest DJ Rich Medina, the night will take you on a sonic journey from Africa to New York as the two DJs blend selections from the upcoming release with other gems from Fania’s catalogs.

Doors open at 8pm and entrance is free but strictly RSVP only. Admittance is granted on a ‘first come, first served’ basis so please arrive early as space is limited.

On Friday, April 29th, Giant Step presents Dirty Vegas Soundsystem in a very rare Brooklyn appearance at Public Assembly. This unique set up will feature Dirty Vegas in a full DJ set with live electronic percussion. After the group parted ways in 2005 to pursue solo careers, we were all ecstatic to hear news of their regrouping and to get a peek at the new album with a fresh sound ready to captivate the international dance scene once again. This party will bring the trio back to their roots with an exclusive soundsystem show as they continue to celebrate the release of their new album Electric Love. Philadelphia International Festival of the Arts (PIFA) is offering a contest to win a full weekend getaway to see Questlove and the hip-hop dance company Rennie Harris Puremovement, plus an art exhibition by The African American Museum of Philadelphia which looks at African American expatriate artists during early 20th Century Paris.
