RBMA Presents ‘A Night Of Improvised Round Robin Duets’ – May 14th

round-robin

Join an amazing cast of musicians for A Night Of Improvised Round Robin Duets with Red Bull Music Academy on May 14 at Town Hall in NYC!

The format? Simple. One musician starts a solo improvisation lasting five minutes. Another musician then joins for five minutes of duo improvisation. After those five minutes, musician #1 leaves the stage and musician #3 joins musician #2 for another five minutes, and so on and so forth for two hours.

The music will span electronic, soul, jazz, rock, and everything in between! It’s gonna be a night to remember, for sure.

The Last Poets & The Black Panthers

If you’re in London on September 11th this year, why not spend the day learning some history with Tongues on Fire: A Tribute to the Black Panthers. The multi-artform event features David Murray, The Last Poets and The Roots at The Barbican. Check out what The Guardian has to say about The Last Poets’ connection to politics in the late ’60s- early ’70s in their article After the Party: Music and The Black Panthers.

Below, listen to a classic track from the Last Poets’ 1970 self-titled album and check out another vintage flyer from the days when The Last Poets were honored performers for The Groove Academy.
