New Release: Potatohead People feat. Frank Nitt – Kosmichemusik EP + Free MP3

Brooklyn wax-pushers Bastard Jazz Recordings have just released an expansive new EP (and limited-edition 7″) from Canadian producers Potatohead People (aka Nick Wisdom & AstroLogical). Just in time for Valentine’s Day,  the crew has offered up a free download of the EP’s love-sick anthem ”Back To My Shit” featuring heralded Detroit rapper Frank Nitt (Frank’n'Dank, J. Dilla). The production duo’s signature deep, synth-heavy beat underscores Nitty’s honest tale of breakup and redemption. Grab the MP3 below, and steam the entire Kosmichemusik EP (which also features the soulful vocals of Claire Mortifee and wordplay of Vancouver MC Moka Only) after the jump.

New Tracks: Black Milk & Jack White – “Brain” & “Royal Mega” + Live Album To Release

In April, Black Milk was invited to Jack White’s home studio via a personal phone call from The White Stripes rockstar himself. The incredible honor took the indie Detroit rapper and his bandmates to be part of a historic series of jam sessions with Jack White and a team of his musicians, which became White’s first venture into hip-hop.

What resulted is the single we have for you today: On the A-side, “Brain” and on the B-side, “Royal Mega” – streamable below. To Black Milk’s surprise, the Nashville-based legend deferred to Black in taking the production lead. A live album of entire jam session, titled Black Milk Live at Third Man Records, is also in the works.

From Black Milk himself: “The time we spent in Nashville collaborating with Jack White was one of the greatest moments in my music career. It not only inspired me to continue to work hard as a producer, but also confirmed that staying true to my art, without compromise, can manifest into the type of rewards that money can’t buy.” Read the full story on Black Milk’s website.

Hypnotic and triumphant, Apollo Brown’s “Tao Te Ching” track now has a fresh animated video to set the perfect ambiance. The video comes from the Detroit-based producer’s March release, Clouds, and is on the heels of his upcoming release with Rochester, NY rapper, Hassaan Mackey entitled, Daily Bread. Looks like we’re going to have to turn back that dial and cue up Clouds while we await the new project!
